Raymond Charles “Piggy” Bagley
The Celebration of Life Service Honoring Mr. Raymond Charles “Piggy” Bagley, 60, of Frankston, will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 2, at Faith Temple House of Deliverance with Co-Pastor Lolitha Shead officiating and Supt. Johnny R. Baker serving as eulogist. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Sandflat Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co.
Mr. Bagley transitioned November 27, 2023, at UT Health Center.
“Piggy” was born December 14, 1962, in Palestine and was a graduate of Frankston High School, Class of 1981. He was a lifelong resident of Frankston where he worked in the construction industry for several years.
Preceding him in death was his mother: Bettie Miller.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife: Geneva Warren Bagley, Frankston;children Raven Bagley and Shamirra Hall, both of Tyler; father: family friend: Jody Hatton; siblings: Velma Donnell, Tyler, Richard Miller (Krystal), Dixie Bagley (Starla), Dania Fields (Thomas), all of Frankston, Betty Bircher (Timothy), Houston.

Charles Schulze
A graveside service for Charles Schulze, 81, is scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Corine Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Charles was born on November 30, 1941, to Charles Frederick and Alta (Duncan) Schulze in Houston, Texas, and passed away on November 26, 2023. Charles joined the Navy when he was working on his master’s degree in English at Stephen F. Austin. He proudly served his country from 1965 – 1970. He was a Signalman on the USS Richard S. Edwards Destroyer. After he was honorably discharged, he joined his father in the Ranching business. Charles loved being a rancher and the ranching lifestyle. During his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all else, Charles loved his family and spending time with those he loved most. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alta Schulze.
Left to cherish Charles’s memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Sue Schulze of Jacksonville; 2 sons, Roger Schulze of Oakland, California, and Zeke Schulze of Jacksonville; and daughter, Toska Graham and husband Jay of Bullard. He is also survived by his 2 grandchildren, Abi Rhodes and Jeff Graham.

James "Jim" Pointer
James "Jim" Pointer, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Nov. 18, 2023, at the age of 89. He was born on Jan. 2, 1934, in Bernie, Missouri, and later settled in Frankston.
Jim was a remarkable individual who left a lasting impact on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jim had a vibrant personality, always making jokes and keeping everyone on their toes. His kind-hearted nature and willingness to help others made him a beloved figure in his community. His career spanned 35 years at General Motors in Flint, Michigan, where he dedicated himself to his work before retiring.
He was a dedicated Deacon at his home church, Hilltop Baptist in Berryville, where he found solace and strength in his faith.
Outside of his professional and religious commitments, Jim had a passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding joy and tranquility in nature. His love for these hobbies was evident in the stories he shared and the memories he created with family and friends.
Jim's impact on the lives of those who knew him extended far beyond his humor and hobbies. He was the epitome of generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand and support those in need. His selflessness and genuine care for others made him a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration.
James "Jim" Pointer is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Shirley Pointer. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories. Jim is also survived by his sister Willetta Kleinschmidt of Festus, Missouri and children, Michael Pointer of Troy, Missouri, and Jeanine Pointer of Frankston. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Masse of Lake, Michigan.
Jim's legacy lives on through his four grandchildren Jamie Lynn, Jennifer, Jessica, and James, as well as his seven great-grandchildren August James, Taylor, Ethan, Jeremiah, Jillian, Jonathan and Benjermen. He will forever be remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering generosity.
A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at a later date, officiated by his close friend, Brother Ron Ivey.
James “Jim” Sutton
James “Jim” Sutton was born on Nov. 8, 1934, to Jay D. and Grace (Haas) Sutton and went to be with the Lord on Nov. 15, 2023. Jim was a farm boy from Ohio. He grew into a very capable and intelligent man who made it his mission in life to serve the Lord, his family, his country, and others who were in need. Jim accomplished much in his life and had an astounding career as an aerospace engineer. Jim believed strongly in training his sons who also emulated their father’s example in various ways. Jim adored his wife as a faithful husband for more than 68 years. He was a true instrument of God’s righteousness used by Him to reach into the lives of many. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Grace Sutton; and sister-in-law, Deloris Sutton.
Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his loving wife, Janet Sutton of Frankston; 3 sons, Terry James Sutton and wife Lisa of Midlothian, Daniel Lee Sutton and wife Gina of Midlothian, and David Eugene Sutton and wife Brandi of Dallas; and brother, J. David Sutton of Savannah, Georgia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Calvin, Courtney, Briana, Kelsey, Lauren, John, and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Addison, Ember, and Fletcher; and numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family, and loving friends.

Ralph “Shorty” Sholars
Ralph “Shorty” Sholars passed away on Nov. 13, 2023 at the age of 96.
He was born in LaRue on June 4, 1927 to Roy and Letha Sholars. He passed away in Athens after a brief illness.
He graduated from LaPoynor High School and entered the U.S. Navy in 1944. He joined the Navy with his life-long friend Joe Haydon Miller. He served during World War II for 17 months and 3 days.
He graduated with his Bachelors and Master’s degrees from Texas A&M (Commerce) formerly known as East Texas State University. He played basketball at ETSU and was selected All-American. He was also proud of the fact he was selected “Team Captain” by his teammates.
For many years he was a coach and educator in the Athens ISD. He was head basketball coach and head baseball coach as well as assistant football coach through the years with Athens ISD. After retiring from coaching, he taught World History and was best known for being the Drivers Education teacher. Through his many years he taught countless young people how to drive. He was known for his many slogans and sayings as well as his countless stories.
Mr. Sholars is survived by his two children. Rev. Nick Sholars and his wife Marty of Hideaway, Texas. His daughter Celia Juanita Smith and her husband Larry of Houston, three grandchildren, Meredith Sholars Searcy and husband Josh of Longview, Grant Douglas Smith and wife Monica of Richmond, John Kent Sholars of Dallas; four great-grandchildren Luke and Levi Searcy of Longview, Jakob and Jocelyn Smith of Richmond. Numerous nieces and nephews survive him as well.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Miller, Sorrell Miller, Jordan Miller, Wayne Mitchell, Tommy Richardson, Dan Taylor and John Ellis Crossley.
Visitation will be at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at New York Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 at 2 p.m.

Sandra “Patty” Emerine
A graveside service for Sandra “Patty” Emerine, 81, is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at Frankston City Cemetery.
Sandra was born on August 28, 1942, to Jack and Alma Carter and passed away on November 10, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Alma Carter.
Left to cherish Sandra’s memory are husband, D.C. Emerine of Frankston; sons, Brian Emerine and wife Cindi of Frankston and Jeff Emerine and wife Shantell of Frankston. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Karen Emerine, Kelly Emerine, Jade Ginn, Heath Ginn, Clayton Nutt, and Elizabeth Nutt; and great-grandchildren, Gavan Emerine, Oakley Emerine, Gracey Ginn, Paul Ginn, Mason Nutt, and Marley Nutt.
Betty Joyce Rabel
Betty Joyce Riley Rabel, born to Louis Michael Bruno and Elma Allcorn Bruno on Dec. 26, 1931, in suburban Houston, on Old Humble Rd., near Mt. Houston Rd., passed away November 6, 2023.
A funeral service for Betty is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Frankston with Pastor Scott Wiley officiating. Visitation will begin 1 hour before. She will be laid to rest at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Liberty Hill.
Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church, Frankston, N H Davis Chapter Daughters of the Republic, Stephen F. Austin’s old 300 Alamo Defenders Descendants Association, and National Society United States Daughters of 1812, Thomas Bay Chapter. Joyce was the Family Historian along with cousin, Charles Jackson and niece Sharon Pla, gens. A few years ago, when she was able, she loved growing herbs, like sweet basil, Rosemary, Parsley, and Cilantro. She had lemon trees that produced many lemons to share. When Conroe Courier had their annual holiday cooking contest she loved when she was chosen to prepare a dish and win a prize. Her love of beautiful music is reflected in her choice of music for her service. Her wish is that she as been an example for friends and family all will be saved and be ready when Jesus comes.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Elma Riley Powell; brothers, Bonard, Wayne, and Michael Bruno; sisters, Doris Bruno and Marie Morgan; granddaughter, Angela Powel Bonin; and husbands, Herman Riley and Adolph “Ray” Rabel.
Left to cherish Joyce’s memory are her beloved children, sons, Delbert Riley and wife Brenda, and David Wayne Riley and wife Jean; and son-in-law, David Powell and wife Carol. Her sister is Kathy Gore and husband Robert. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren, Shannon Powell Moore, Brent Riley and wife Brandy, Brandon Riley and wife Angie, and Rachel Welch and husband Conrad; grandson-in-law, David Cochran; great grandchildren, Meaghan Moore, Allie Moore, Huntter Bonin and wife Christina, Anistyn and Hayes Riley, Waylon Riley-Welch, and Brooklyn McCurry; and great-great grandson, Braden Bonin.
Pallbearers will be Joyce’s grandsons, David Powell, Conrad Welch, Mark Terrell, Brandon Riley, Robert Gore, and Jarrett Ellis.
Mary Ann Locke
Mary Ann (Galloway) Locke passed away peacefully at her home in Frankston, Tx with her family by her side on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023. She was 90 years old.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston with Rev. Jimmy Calvert officiating. Visitation will begin 1 hour before. She will be laid to rest at Fincastle Cemetery.
Mary Ann was born to Powell Tyson and Betty Lou (McMillan) Galloway in the Fincastle Community of Henderson County on Nov. 1, 1933. She attended school in Poynor, Galveston, and Alvin. She graduated from Alvin High School in 1950. She met the love of her life, Kenneth Nyles Locke, while attending Alvin Junior College. Mary Ann maintained a long-distance courtship with Nyles while he was in the Navy and she was attending Sam Houston State Teachers College (now Sam Houston State University). She and Nyles were married Dec. 20, 1952, at First United Methodist Church in Alvin, Texas. Mary Ann graduated from Sam Houston in June 1953. Following graduation, Mary Ann joined Nyles in California at Naval Air Station Moffett Field. Their daughter, Anita, was born in 1953 while Nyles was stationed there. After his discharge in 1955 the family returned to Texas. Their second daughter, Karen, was born in 1958 while Nyles was completing his degree at Sam Houston. The family moved back to Alvin, TX, where they welcomed two sons: Kenneth (K.W.), born in 1959 and John, born in 1962.
Mary Ann’s family moved several times over the next seven years. She devoted herself to making a loving home for her family in each new city. In 1969 the family settled in Brenham, TX, and Mary Ann began teaching. She was a wonderful teacher, beloved by her students and her fellow faculty members. After her retirement, Mary Ann and Nyles moved to Frankston.
Mary Ann was a supportive member of Palestine Grace United Methodist Church and an active former member of the United Methodist Women chapter in Frankston. She was also active in the local chapter of Eastern Star, where she served in several offices, including Worthy Matron.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Courtney; great-granddaughter, Sloan; sister, Nell; son, John; and her husband, Nyles, who died on her birthday last year.
Left to cherish Mary Ann’s memory are her children, Anita Duesterhoft and husband Ken of Frankston, Karen Wallace and husband Doug of Navasota, Kenneth (K.W.) and wife Alisa of Frankston, and daughter-in-law Terri Locke of Brenham. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Kelly Buford (Bryan), Paul Duesterhoft (Diana), Leah Duesterhoft, Jessica Walters (Chad), Jamie Schubert (Brady), Justen Locke (Rachel), Andrew Wallace (Amber), Julie Krebs (Justin), Amanda Wallace (Leander Van Hecke), and Jarrett Locke (Nicole); 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and precious friends.
