"I named this for my sister-in-law, Jeni, after our misadventures making ganache. The recipe actually comes from the Pillsbury Cookbook. It's the easiest recipe ever, and is delicious, too! I always put it on my birthday cake. Cook time is chill time."

 1. I made half a recipe of ganache. Like another reviewer, I didn't follow the directions, but I mainly wanted the amounts of cream to chocolate. I boiled the cream in the microwave in a glass measuring cup (about 1 1/2 minutes on HIGH), then I poured the chocolate chips and butter in the hot cream. I let the mixture sit about 5 minutes, so the chips could melt, then I stirred it all up. I put in fridge to harden, so I could decorate the top of a chocolate peanut butter torte (#355398). It took about an hour to harden enough so I could put it in a ziploc baggie and pipe it on the torte. My husband was eating it out of the measuring cup. Hehe! This is an awesome recipe. Thanks for posting it!

 2. I also heated the cream and butter in the microwave, then added the chocolate. I used half and half because its what I had and Ghiradelli semi sweet baking chocolate. It didn't get as thick as it would have had I used heavy cream but it was yummy that way. I used it to pour over the Cake Mix Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake from this website. 5 of us ate almost the whole cake in one sitting.

 3. If you are using good chocolate (like Lindt or Girrhardelli), a cup is about 150g (1 bar and half) of chocolate.
If you are doing what some reviewers suggest, warming the cream and butter and then pouring on the chocolate (best way to avoid over cooking), make sure the chocolate is chopped very finely.
If you are using chocolate with more than 70% cacao, you'll need to add sugar. Learn from my mistake and use real sugar, not icing sugar which has corn starch in it and it turns your ganache in a nice (very tasty) gew but not icing!
The quality of your chocolate will make a huge difference. Go for the real thing, not Baker or No Name...

 4. God Bless You for posting this fabulous EASY recipe. I have looked high & low for an easy ganache recipe and finally found it here. The only thing I did differently was to let it set out in the pan for just about half hour and then poured on my cake. Thanks once again for taking the time to post this.

 5. Excellent! I frosted the cake with it, then put raspberries on top. Melted the ganache to a liquid consistency and then drizzled it over the top. It got rave reviews from my friends, I will definitely make this again!

I live in TN with a husband, 9 year old, 6 year old, and our two dogs. I'm a busy mom who loves to cook for family and friends. We have two boys, and they are the light of my life! My husband is a restaurant manager. We actually met while working together at Bob Evans in another city. He was one cute grill cook!! Now he is one cute manager, and I am so proud of him! He currently works for El Chico, and he is very happy there.
I am a stay at home mom who sometimes does temp work, which is a big change from corporate America. We'll see how that goes. Now that I have some more time, I plan to get back to the kind of cooking I used to do. You know...with pots and pans instead of a take out menu. I love to crochet, garden and hike with the family. Thanks in advance for any reviews you do of my recipes. :)
