What are some beeswax candles care tips?
With proper care, pure beeswax candles are healthier, safer, and offer a longer burning time than many candle alternatives. Here are some facts and tips to follow with your new beeswax candle:
– On the first burn (called the memory burn), let the candle burn long enough for the top layer of wax to liquefy, in order to ensure an even burn in the future.
– Before each use, trim the wick to 1/4″. This prevents smoke and overheating.
– It’s always better to light the wick from its base.
– Beeswax candles have a higher melting point that makes the candle burn slower and longer.
– Pure beeswax candles are generally dripless, as long as the wick is properly trimmed and there is no draft around.
– When extinguishing the candle flame, don’t blow it out. And once the flame is out, make sure the wick is upright.
– Pure beeswax candles (preferably unscented) are good for people with allergies and asthma.
– Always make sure you are using a heat resistant candle holder to protect the surface under it.
